Star Anise 50g Organic

Star Anise has a licorice-like, sweet and pungent flavour, similar to fennel and anise, but stronger. It can leave a bitter after-taste if used at high levels.

Star Anise gives a spicy, sweet flavour that becomes more intense as it gets cooked. The seeds have fewer flavours than the pods, and the broken pieces of pods are less aromatic. It is used in marinades, BBQs's, roasts, stews, and soups that require long simmering.

Star Anise pairs well with mint, cinnamon, ginger, soy sauce, orange, rose essence, curry leaves, chilli peppers, curry powders and black pepper.
