Buckwheat, Hulled Organic 500g
A heavyweight in nutrition, each tiny seed is packed with the beneficial antioxidant flavanoids, including rutin, which may help protect against bad cholesterol and heart disease. It contains all the essential amino acids plus vital complex carbohydrates as well as iron, potassium, manganese, magnesium, calcium and plenty of dietary fibre.
HOW TO USE
Activate your own buckwheat by soaking it in water for 12 hours or overnight then dehydrating at a low temperature.
To make groat porridge, use 1 cup of buckwheat groats per 2 cups of water. Bring water to a boil in a small pot. Add buckwheat and a pinch of salt. Return to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer, cover and cook for 10-15 minutes until tender. Drain any remaining water.
- Perfect in salads, soups and as a side dish.
- Mill to make your own buckwheat flour.
- Use it to make noodles.
- Use hulled buckwheat in raw food recipes for energy bars and balls.
- Use as a deliciously crunchy base to homemade granola, mixed in with other nuts, seeds, dried fruits and a sweetener of choice, such as honey or maple syrup.
- Roasting buckwheat before cooking creates an earthier, nuttier taste and aroma.
