Cumin, also known as comino, is native to the Nile valley in Egypt. It is now cultivated in other hot regions of India, the Mediterranean and Northern Africa. Cumin is one of the most consumed spices right after chili and peppercorns and is a key ingredient in many curry and chili powders.

Ground Cumin is most commonly added to minced meat, stews, chili, or vegetables. Other great additions of this spice are to couscous or cooking rice for the warming aromatic and flavoring qualities of Cumin, or add to mayonnaise for a new and interesting dip. Traditionally used in Indian Spice Blends, Curries, or any spicy dish.

This seed is strong, earthy, and slightly spicy and pairs well with allspice, chilies, garlic, ginger, and turmeric.
