Almonds Certified Organic in Transition
Almonds are one of today’s most popular ‘super foods’. Besides being a good source of protein and dietary fibre, it also delivers a significant dose of omega-9 and a combination of nutrients that researchers believe to be the source of its health benefits. It is no wonder then that almonds have become a staple in healthy diets.
With its delicious buttery flavour, almonds can be enjoyed on their own, raw or toasted. They make a wonderful addition to salads and baked goods, providing a little extra crunch. They can be chopped, ground or shaved to suit any recipe requirement.
HOW TO USE
Throw into salads, enjoy in your favourite desserts, or simply munch straight from the pack.
- Add chopped almonds to muesli, porridge, smoothies or acai bowls.
- Activate raw nuts by soaking in water for 12 hours, before slowly dehydrating at a very low heat. Soaked nuts are great for dairy-free fresh mixed nut mylk – just drain, blend with 6 parts water (optional: add a little honey or coconut nectar &/or a pinch of himalayan pink salt), then strain through a clean cloth. Nut mylk will keep for several days, refrigerated in an airtight jar.
- Almonds can also be ground to a flour or meal, perfect for baking and adding to LSA mix, or grind to a paste for scrumptious fresh nut butter.
- Ground almonds are also great in pesto, dips and as a base for sauces; use it to replace peanuts in satay sauce.
